Who We Are
We are an unparalleled financial support system that provides small business owners with access to capital, networks, and coaching. We work to build inclusive and accessible options for these determined business owners. For over 25 years we have served a client base that is nearly 80% women, people of color, or immigrants.
Small businesses uplift communities and anchor local economies while creating opportunities for themselves, their families, their employees, and our neighborhoods. Yet entrepreneurs who are people of color, women, and immigrants often struggle to secure capital and resources, as they are systematically shut out from traditional financing.
In addition to providing resources and loans to small businesses, we also conduct original research, advocate for policy changes, and finance community facility construction projects, such as community health centers, homeless services facilities, and youth recreational facilities in low-income neighborhoods through our New Markets Tax Credit program.
I constantly reflect on everything each of our employees has done for all the small businesses that we serve and the high-impact community projects we invest in. The impact we have on small businesses and their families, our communities, on our own organization, and on each other, especially during these very turbulent and trying times, makes me incredibly proud and humble to be part of the AOF community. The greatest asset of any organization is its people, and every single one of our employees is an integral part of our mission and purpose. As a family we have made great strides forward and I am confident that, together, there is absolutely no limit to what we can accomplish. I truly cannot wait to welcome you as part of our AOF family!
I love my job because I support Accion Opportunity Fund’s mission. I also love working with people that care and make you feel appreciated. I am happy to be part of Accion Opportunity Fund’s family.

I love working at an organization that is so mission driven. Accion Opportunity Fund strives to support small business owners in every aspect of its work.
I enjoy the collaborative, team driven culture at Accion Opportunity Fund, no matter the challenge I know I can count on my coworkers to come to the table and focus on building solutions.
I enjoy working at AOF due to the organization’s support in being creative and trying new approaches to solve the challenges that entrepreneurs face. Every day is a new experience with new funding programs, educational resources, and other initiatives that lead to a great experience.
Working at AOF, I know that what I do matters. Every day we strive to make the U.S. financial system a bit more equitable, giving small business owners the opportunity to improve the lives of themselves, their families, and their communities.
At AOF, I get to work in an enabling environment with people who root for me constantly. In the past year, I have felt encouraged, challenged, supported, and appreciated. The impact of the work we do at AOF is incredibly rewarding, and the ethos of the organization shines through every day.
I love that I get to wake up every day and be able to help under-served small business owners obtain much needed financing!
Workplace diversity matters to us, and it isn’t just a catchphrase. More than two thirds of our staff are women and people of color.
